An interview with Kamila Ramirez

1. How was the season for the team?
“I feel that overall, we had a great season! Considering that half of our team, including me, had their first experiences playing lacrosse, we did really well! Even though we lost a few games, I still liked that we persevered and won some games too!”
2. How did you play this season?
“Overall, I think I played pretty well. Even though I had less experience than other players on the team, I still managed to contribute. During lacrosse I played defense, and I was scared at first since I haven’t played defense in other sports. I got over my fear and ended up playing on the field and getting much better at lacrosse!”
3. What was your favorite memory of the season?
“My favorite memory from this season was winning our first game. It was truly a surreal experience for me. I saw my team light up after being nervous to play. Also it was my first game, which put me on edge. In the end, I was so happy to be able to celebrate our first win of the season with my amazing team! Also, we dumped a gallon of water on Jenny, which was a really funny moment too!”
4. What are you looking forward to for next year?
“I am looking forward to being more confident in my lacrosse playing. I want to feel more secure in my catching and receiving. I am also excited to meet new players that will join our team! I can’t wait to be there for them and help them throughout the season!”
5. What advice would you give student-athletes wanting to make a roster for next year in your sport?
“Some advice that I would give to student-athletes wanting to make the roster for next year is don’t give up! I know that it’s an overused cliché but, it actually works! Most of our team this season were people who had never even touched a lacrosse stick, including me! Just because you don’t know something, doesn’t mean it isn’t worth trying and striving for it! If you give it your all, then you will for sure make it! Also, ask for help! Don’t be shy to ask someone to help with your skills because we are all learning! Be confident and show that you have what it takes!”
